Under the direction of the Manager of Public Works, or designate, the Public Works Operator 2 is a truck driver with a D-Z Licence, operates a backhoe and loader along with the operation of snow removal equipment and heavy machinery, cemetery locates and interment preparation. Performs duties related to the maintenance and construction of the municipal roads system, including roads, bridges, culverts, drainage, sidewalks, traffic control, and other road/property work.
Preferred Experience
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a Class D-Z Ontario Licence.
• Minimum of three (3) years related experience involving road maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledgeable and experience in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazard Material Identification System (W.H.M.I.S.), and Traffic Control.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the operation of heavy machinery and equipment.
• Must have a demonstrated ability to deal with public in a polite and courteous manner.
• Must have a demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of supervision and as a member of a team.
