To mark International Women’s Day on March 8th, this week we’re celebrating the incredible women who make a lasting impact in our communities. Today, we are proud to shine a spotlight on Councillor Sara Nirta, who represents Ward 1 in the Municipality of North Middlesex.

International Women’s Day recognizes the achievements of women and to raise awareness about the ongoing work needed to advance gender equality. The 2026 theme, Give to Gain, highlights the importance of intentional support, collective action, and generosity in creating stronger, more inclusive communities.

Sara attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and North Middlesex District High School before continuing her education at Western University, where she graduated with an Honours Specialization in Criminology. She later studied law at the University of Sussex, earning her LLB.

Today, Sara is a local business owner in Parkhill, operating her law office in the downtown core. Since 2019, she has been an active Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron, generously giving her time and experience to mentor and support youth in the community. She is also an active community member who enjoys attending and volunteering at local events throughout the year.

Having lived in North Middlesex for nearly her entire life, Sara is proud to be raising her daughter - with another daughter on the way - in the community she proudly calls home. She has deeply valued the opportunity to serve on Council during the 2022 to 2026 term and remains committed to helping build a strong, inclusive, and vibrant municipality for current and future generations.

On this International Women’s Day, we recognize Councillor Sara Nirta for her leadership, dedication to public service, and her spirit of giving. Through her work and community involvement, she truly embodies this year’s theme, Give to Gain, helping our community grow in strength, connection, and opportunity.
