NORTH MIDDLESEX, ONTARIO - The Municipality of North Middlesex is proud to announce receiving $4,024,125 from the Province of Ontario’s Health and Safety Water Stream Fund. This significant investment will support critical upgrades to local water infrastructure, ensuring the municipality can continue to meet the needs of its growing communities.
“The Municipality of North Middlesex sincerely appreciates the continued partnership and investment from the Government of Ontario in strengthening critical municipal water infrastructure,” said Brian Ropp, Mayor of the Municipality of North Middlesex. “This significant investment in the Mount Carmel Reservoir Reconstruction will help ensure the long-term delivery of safe, reliable drinking water, support housing growth, and enhance the community’s resilience to extreme weather events.”
“This funding represents a vital investment in infrastructure that underpins the health, safety, and economic stability of North Middlesex,” said Carolyn Tripp, Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality of North Middlesex. “The Mount Carmel Reservoir Reconstruction will support existing and future development and position the municipality to sustainably meet the needs of residents and businesses for decades to come.”
“These upgrades will modernize our water system using current treatment and distribution technologies, improving reliability, increasing capacity, and reducing environmental impact. This important investment ensures our infrastructure is ready for growth, and we thank the Province of Ontario and our MPP for helping make it a reality,” said Samuel Shannon, Director of Infrastructure and Operations.
This funding forms part of a historic $4 billion investment through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP), included in Ontario’s $220 billion capital plan—the largest in the province’s history—to build and strengthen vital infrastructure such as transit, highways, hospitals, schools, and water systems that enable new housing, create jobs, and support growing communities across Ontario. “I am pleased that North Middlesex is receiving this investment for the Mount Carmel Reservoir reconstruction. Upgrading this critical water infrastructure will ensure residents continue to have access to safe, reliable drinking water, while supporting the growth and sustainability of our community. This funding is a positive step toward stronger, healthier, and more resilient local services.” Said Steve Pinsonneault, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
