WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL PLAN?

  • A comprehensive document which contains goals, policies, and land use schedules.
  • A 25-year policy framework for land use decisions.
  • Sets the context for detailed planning and provision of municipal services.
  • Indicates where housing, agriculture, industry, commercial and retail land uses will be located.

WHY IS THE OFFICIAL PLAN BEING REVIEWED?

Municipalities generally update their official plans every 5 years to ensure that the Official Plan:

THE MUNICIPALITY OFFICIAL PLAN REVIEW PROCESS WILL:

  • Consider new provincial legislation, regulations and policies.
  • Review County policy direction implemented through the recent review of the County official plan.
  • Include meaningful community engagement.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE

When: Wednesday July 22, 2026 at 6:00 PM

Where: The Ailsa Craig Recreation Centre at 155 Annie Ada Shipley Street, Ailsa Craig, ON N0M 1A0

Staff will do a short presentation at 6:10 p.m. and will be available for questions following the presentation. The purpose of the Open House is to provide the public an opportunity to provide feedback, to ask questions and identify planning issues that should be considered as part of the amendment. Any person may attend the public open house and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan Amendment, or submit ideas and feedback for consideration.
