Ongoing Municipal By-law Enforcement Services Update

Posted on Monday May 04, 2020

The Municipality of North Middlesex through its contracted services with the Municipal Enforcement Unit of Sarnia, Ontario provides Municipal Law Enforcement Officers to patrol and investigate a variety of matters related to many By-laws that fall under the jurisdiction of the Municipality. This includes Parking Enforcement, Tidy Yard and Property Standards Compliance, Open Air Burns, Dog Control By-law to name a few.

You may have noticed an increase in their presence in our community. This is in part due to the fact that Provincial Offences Officers and Municipal Law Enforcement Officers are now authorized to enforce all emergency orders made under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA). This greatly assists our Ontario Provincial Police Officers during this unprecedented time in Canada.

Municipal Law Enforcement Officers play an important role in the community for public education as well as enforcement of our By-laws. While on patrol in our community, they may also address other potential violations and/or complaints received, always keeping and maintaining the safety of our citizens at the forefront at all times.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Municipal Enforcement Unit directly at 1-855-900-9119 or Jackie Tiedeman, Clerk at 519-294-6244 ext 224.

Thank you for doing your part in staying safe during this very difficult time.
